I also Mountain Bike. But like my climbing skills, I have let them go. Now that I am back on track I want to do more stuff. Since Jimi mentioned mountain biking how about this. A nice ride at Santa Rosa next Saturday. It is pretty flat. Good for noobs. The 16th. Then after a couple hour ride we head down to the Public House for the club Happy Hour. Seems like we could get a whole lot of activities crammed into a short period of time.
Whos in?
Just meet up at Santa Rosa @ 8:00 am the 16th of May.
If you don't ride come for a hike. Really nice easy hiking up there.

I am up for it!  I blew out my bike tire on a 30 mile ride a couple of weeks ago so I need to fix that up, but as long as I do that I am good to go.

I don't know how many beer fests I can handle. If the vote goes to Barley and Hops then I am there. I didn't know about their event and we have Happy Hour at Public house posted on the main page. That just seemed to fit. So you and Jimi decide and I will have just 1 either way.

I would love to get my big fat ass back on the bike. I used to ride a couple thousands of miles a year, but work and injuries have kept me off the bike. IMHO there are very few things that are more enjoyable than drinking beer and eatin BBQ on a Sunday after a hard MB ride or a 100 mile road trip.

Slow down. I am talking about a light trip around the block. 100 milers are a tad ambitious for this crowd. I like fitness as much as the next guy but it will be many Sunday's before I even think about riding like that again.

But we got to start somewhere.
I tried a century once when I was stationed in Bermuda. Had to ride across the island 4 times. I made it 68 miles. Gave up when I passed the mess hall 1 too many times.

It would take me 6 months of training to be ready to do a century. Ive done a lot of long distance riding, which is what screwed up my knees. Anything less than 20 can be done without much training. Between 20 and 50 requires training, over 50 requires committed training. Over 100 is a whole different animal. Doing over 100 for 6 days straight is a sure fire way to hurt yourself. Trust me, I know. Less talk, more pedal. I need to get my bikes in shape. My dedicated MB isn't setup for longer rides. Anyone have a really good bike shop to recomend?

Hey Craig, I am a part of that Bike Meetup Group.  I was thinking about that Vail Lake ride this Saturday prior to the Murrieta Microbrew / Chili Fest.  I think that I'd break my little Momma's heart if I went for a ride on Mother's day in lieu of going to see her....so Sunday is out for me.

However, I still want to do the Santa Rosa ride the following weekend.  So, what's the verdict?  Saturday or Sunday?  Barley & Hops -or- Public House -or- BBQ @ Casa JIMI?  Was'sup my peeps?....

I will vote. Next Saturday is best for me. 7:30 ish @ Santa Rosa. Nothing too heavy as I am just getting back. Then I vote Public House for some post ride jabber jawing. It is already planned Happy Hour for the club. I don't plan on have more than 1 or 2 beers and it is mostly outside.

My 2 cent's. I welcome alternatives.
